Great Product to have for Macro, July 7, 2011 Post by pawarssp03
Quality:
Shipping:
Price:
Pros:
Easy to use.Great value for money.Prompt service.
Cons:
You should be very careful while attaching this tube to camera mount. My tube is stuck with camera mount,I thought its like attaching canon lens. One should give attention on where screw is tight on camera mount.
Overall:
Best Cheap option for Macro photography.Handle with care otherwise it will stuck to your camera mount.I would strongly recommend this for the people who are on budget.
Really good macro extension tube, great buy!!, May 25, 2011 Post by ManyCalavera

Price:
Pros:
Easy to use. I use manual lenses so focus and f stop are set on the lens (this you can't do with electronic lenses). Focus range its reduced, as it would be in any macro lens, that is what macro is for. They are made of metal. Mine didn't have any defects. Fits well into my 500D and EOS 5. It has many possible length combinations.
Cons:
Only con I found is the rings can sometimes be hard to un-screw, but other than that, no problems whatsoever.
Overall:
really cost effective, you can't go wrong.
Perfect alternative to expensive, brand ones, June 20, 2010 Post by JonAgirre
Quality:

Price:
Pros:
The extensions are modular, with three pieces purely for extension and two adaptor pieces, one for the camera and the other for the objective. As other reviewers noted, the tubes are metallic, with a good mount (I didn't have metal sparks in mine) and a switch for removing the objective when you're done with it. I didn't have removal problems, residues nor did I notice any defects to the camera.
Cons:
Not really, but if I do have to find any, I would say that due to the lack of electronic interface, you have to preset the aperture prior to mounting the extensions. This is something everyone with this equipment has already noted, and is a minor consequence (I think) of the ultra-reduced price.
Overall:
This is a product I heavily recommend, as opposed to any dioptric lenses, which have poor optical quality. This is just a trick to bring the focus point from very close objects right into the sensor. Does not have any "light-processing" parts.
Avoid!, April 13, 2010 Post by Kvaks
Quality:
Shipping:
Price:
Pros:
CheapMetal, not plastic
Cons:
Fit to camera is either too loose or too tight (see below)May ruin your camera (see below)Poor machining, rings fit each other, but it sounds and feels like there's sand everywhereGives a very low span of focus, in the case of my 50mm lens, what used to be a span of focus length from about 50 cm to infinity was now snapped only a few centimeters from max to min focus length. I don't have experience with real macro lenses, but I assume they don't have this problem.
Overall:
Avoid unless you want to ruin your camera!
Great for macro work!, July 13, 2009 Post by helius1
Quality:
Shipping:
Price:
Pros:
- The number of rings. Unlike a previous reviewer, I love the flexibility afforded by them. You can use them on their own, or in combination. Very handy if you're using a prime lens.- The build quality is quite a bit better than comparably priced eBay stuff that I've seen.
Cons:
- The rings weren't finished properly. Mine came with metal burrs that weren't polished off. If you're using the cheaper plastic lenses, it may well have scratched it up.- No instructions on how to attach the lens, but it shouldn't be too difficult to figure out.
Overall:
You need to set the f-stop before mounting the lens on the tube, and you'll need to focus manually. But still, it's a LOT cheaper than buying a macro lens.Overall, a great inexpensive way to get into macro photography.
a good tube, June 7, 2009 Post by BobGo
Quality:
Shipping:
Price:
Pros:
I didn't know the first thing about macro photography, which is what made this attractive. It's solid metal, and the rings assemble/disassemble easy enough to change the length of the tube without a problem.I played with this using the kit 18-55mm lens that came with my camera, and was impressed at how close I could now bring the camera to the subject being shot.
Cons:
- no electrical connection, so you're on your own for focus etc - but I really didn't find it to be much of an issue
Overall:
cheap thrills with a tube
Good for intro to macro, April 12, 2009 Post by Cristofor
Quality:
Shipping:
Price:
Pros:
Good step into the world of macro.Make use of Canon's locking mechanism.Fit the body perfectly. Works with EF and EF-S lenses
Cons:
Too many rings. I don't think its necessary to have that many distance adjustments. Most of the time I used it with all of the rings on.Squeaky, sticky treads. I was always afraid of getting metal filings on my sensor when removing/adding a ring. The rings should lock. When you're putting a lens on, you can over tighten and lock the rings. Also, when focusing/zooming you end up loosening them. The spring clips on the lens end apply too much pressure. I ended up removing the silver ring and bending them down a little. It scratches the mount on your lenses.I wish they had used standard filter threads between the tubes.
Overall:
It might be a good idea to buy two of these and the macro reverse ring. You can get some pretty good macro with a reversed lens that far away from the sensor.
Good inexpensive rings, March 31, 2009 Post by TheLivingOne
Quality:
Shipping:
Price:
Pros:
Very cheap.Well built.Very close macro with any lens!EOS bayonet attachment - much faster to attach/remove than M42 macro rings or bellows.Very light, easier and safer to carry around than a macro lens.
Cons:
- No electronic connection between lens and camera, so aperture will be wide open (with modern lenses), no auto focus (well who needs that for macro anyway?), and no E-TTL flash mode.- Rings have screw connection between each other. Wish it was bayonet.- On mine, lens is turned upside down when screwed in, hard to read aperture setting as its on the bottom of camera.
Overall:
Get these if you want to shoot macro with very big enlargement but don't want to spend tons of money for real special macro prime lens, or for lighter traveling.P.S. For good image quality, use macro rings with prime lenses only! No zooms!
Get to know macro photography, February 27, 2009 Post by PornoPablo
Quality:
Shipping:
Price:
Pros:
- Dynamic length of the tube- Cheap and easy to use - just mount your lenses on one side, and change distance to the subject to get focus and sharpness.
Cons:
No casing (but look at the price and it's quite sturdy - so you can even keep things in a tube)No caps - on the other hand - no need for them or you can find cheap ones here on DE
Overall:
Cheap way to satisfy your curiosity for macro photography.
Turn your lenses into cheap macro lenses!, January 29, 2009 Post by teejay
Quality:
Shipping:
Price:
Pros:
One of the cheapest macro extensions tubes you can find.
Cons:
Build quality is not top notch but doesn't impair usefullness of the product. Can't control aperture since it lacks electrical contacts for EF lenses. No AF
Overall:
Cheap macro tube that allows macro photography without buying macro lenses that costs hundreds of dollars.
