I was skeptical at first that one could make potato crisps in the microwave, but having used this device for a while now I am impressed. The small mandolin slices the potato and then you microwave in the rack. For a full rack (about 40 chips) I have found that you need to microwave for 10 minutes to achieve a crispy chip. As the chips cook they will generate a lot of steam so it does help to open the microwave occasionally to let steam out.
Cons:
The small mandolin does not come with a bowl for collecting the slices. I notice that the smaller version of this chip maker (also sold on this site) does so it is necessary to place it over a round tub or bowl. The plastic of the rack is starting to disintegrate due to the heat. You need to use small to meduim potatoes so that they don't fall on each other during cooking and stick.
Overall:
A useful device for making a healthy snack of potato crisps, that can be both fat and salt free (if you wish)

Great way to make healthy and DELICIOUS FANTASTIC snacks of side dishes.The potato slicer is really bad, but I don´t care, I already got my own food processor that does the same in about 3 seconds.
Cons:
Very hard to het the potatoes OUT once they´re crunchy. Some of them break. The secret is to control your microwave timing so you get it out while they´re still kinda rubberish, and once they´ve cooled of a bit they´re gonna be fantastic. No on noticed I never used any grease or oil to fry them up.
Overall:
Great purchase for beginners or pros. highly recommended

The potato cutter is not that good, as it do not have a pot to collect the cutted potatos it is necessary to put it over a surface and stops cutting when it it full.It is a little boring to but slice by slice the potato on the support.I do not know if the proble is my microwave, but the time to prepare them varies from 4~6 minutes.
Overall:
It worths the price and it is really recommended for everybody, specially for those one that shall avoid fat food.

Interesting way of cooking fatless potatoe chips or other vegetables.taste is a bit weird at first, i might try to rinse slices before cooking or with another variety. Only had 2 tries.
Cons:
As mentioned on other reviews, the slicer is a bit cheap, tends to slice not very accurately : slices are thinner on one of their sides, causing them to bend and stick together while cooking.not such an issue though... i will use my own pro slicer for next tries.Price is a bit too high. Well, shopping at DE rates makes you a low-price-addicted customer ;)

- Does goodly the JOB : Chips without oil- The slicer is very good, and make very thin parts of the potatoe to make good chips (even if you fry them after).- After 8 minutes cooking, you have crispy chips without oil... Healthy !
Cons:
- Small portions (to me !) made each time : Because it's good, everybody will taste and taste again & again (etc...), so the 20 or 30 slices/chips will be eaten very quickly... - And you'll need 8 minutes with a full pace microwave owen to made it again... diseappeared in less than one minute ! ;)- You need a firm potatoe (not for soup, for example) to make the slices as straight as possible... If not, slices cooking will fall on each others and the result won't be as crispy...I've made some tries with different potatoes, so do i do ;)
Overall:
I wil try this soon to make apples chips, and i'll certainly make a lot of tries with other vegetables and fruits... Creative kitchen, that's it !A good idea, and without fat !

The price for this is the only con, they might want to drop it, to make it more appealing to more people.
Overall:
I know people have gotten excellent results with the smaller version and I'm sure this one will too once I figure out exactly how long they need to cook. I still feel this is a product worth buying. But the results are going to vary due to all the different makes of microwaves and their cooking tendencies.

- You can make healthy snacks with it.- It can be taken directly from microwave oven to the table, as it haves a place to put dressings/salsa in the center to dip the chips in.- The slicer is a nice addition; it can speed up the process of slicing the vegetables/fruits a lot, and it cuts the slices evenly.
Cons:
- It is too small to make a good size of snack bowl.- You need to do some trials to find out how much time is needed in the microwave oven.
Overall:
I find it really nice to cook healthy snacks. You can use other fruits and vegetables, not only potatoes.You can add some spices before cooking them to get different taste and colors.

If it is not important for them to fry them, they can use the cutting machine, it is really useful and you eat them they stay like bought, clearly that they would use oil. Of all forms I recommend it if it is that they do for more than 4 persons, since to make quantity great in microwave was taking them a lot of time and expense of electricity.
